Test

From New Album 11/...

Since Google now owns everyone, there are a lot more little things I can do here, and they are a lot easier to do. Just testing one out now.

This picture was taken on the Fourth of July; you know, the holiday where we celebrate our freedoms in this land by blowing up small chunks of it.

More Classroom Resources Boyyyyyy!

Flav wants to make sure you know where to get what you need. So go on:

Fight the Peer Editor!
Who Stole the Self Assessment?
Fear of a Black Vocab Worksheet!

Okay, that last one was pretty bad, but you get the idea.

THE LAW

...and of course, seconds after I photocopy 120 new agendas, I see my typo. PERIOD FIVE: F Day: You will obviously not be watching GANDHI (at least we'd BETTER be done with it by then.) Instead we will introduce our next novel, TRAIN TO PAKISTAN, and you will read pages 1-25 for homework.

Apologies.

SITTING IN AN ENGLISH GARDEN...

Seniors: There will be no ORQ on Monday (Tuesday for Diag). Instead, we will have a Siddhartha quiz (CH 5-8) on that day, and finish reading The Bhagivad-Gita. The ORQ will follow that at a date TBD.

Have a good weekend; try something new. This girl knit an entire English garden.

LEVEL QUESTIONS

This is just a reminder on different levels of questions. SENIORS: You should have two or three of these as part of every journal entry for a Socratic Seminar. SOPHOMORES: You will not have them due as regularly, but will be able to see when they are due on weekly agendas.

LEVEL 1: Topical Questions. What does it say? The answer to these are given right in the book.

LEVEL 2: Thesis/Arguable/Inferential Questions. What does it mean? "Why?" questions.

LEVEL 3: Reach for Significance/Universal Meaning Questions. What does it matter? How could what you are reading relate to the real world?

SENIOR SUMMER READING PROJECT

Seniors: remember, this is due Monday

ONE PAGE ESSAY TOPIC: Pick a critical aspect of the book (a philosophy, way of thinking, theme, major event, etc.). Investigate and analyze this critical aspect in relation to the book and to the real world.

Ok? Ok.

You can also turn in a journal as per the requirements of FHS.

Patton Oswalt is awesome.

AGENDA 9.13.06-9.20.06

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

Welcome.

As promised, here is my super high-tech website. It has all the bells and/or whistles you would expect. Below you will find a copy of our first cycle agenda (received the first day of class).

As you know, summer reading assessments are coming up quickly in my class (next week!). Just in case you hypothetically know a guy who knows a guy who didn't do his summer reading, here are the lists.

COMING SOON: Vocabulary words!

Remember, I would like you to think how you can work to make this the focus of the class:

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!

It will take responsibility on a personal level and on a group level, but I really believe we can reach this goal together.
